Fedor Emelianenko
Graphite. This man is a mixed martial artist from Russia. He is widely considered the greatest fighter of all time. He is extremely humble and lives a quiet life in Russia with his wife and daughter. He has no idea someone from Vancouver took 9 months to draw every single molecule on his face. Zooming closely into his skin we see a seemingly abstract and disorganized multitude of circular and wavy shapes; all different shade densities and sizes. The idea was to show that a pyramid at a distance looks like a single, perfect triangle. But if we go closer we see it is actually made up of thousands of individual, perfectly placed blocks. It took me 9 months to draw this because literally every square centimetre of skin on this refrigerator-sized illustration is densely infused with little details; blending together to form the contents of an entire full face.
